The Honourable Mr. Justice Rajkumar, JA
Mr. Justice Rajkumar has sat on the High Court Bench for seven years prior to his elevation. His legal career began with his call to the Bar in October 1986 after receiving his LLB (Hons) from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados and his Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School.
Prior to his service on the Bench, Mr. Justice Rajkumar served as State Counsel attached to the Solicitor General’s Department in the Office of the Attorney General before entering private practice. In private practice, he worked primarily in civil litigation becoming an Associate Attorney in Hobsons law firm before joining the law office of Hamel Smith & Company where he served for fourteen (14) years.
Mr. Justice Rajkumar first joined the Judiciary as a temporary judge of the High Court in January 2008. He returned to private practice until his appointment as a Judge of the High Court in February 2009.
As a High Court Judge, Justice Rajkumar has written a number of landmark judgments.
