Court Services:
Projects Summary
Project | Summary |
The first Drug Treatment Court was introduced as a pilot project in September 2012. The Judiciary is concerned about the increased number of persons coming before the Courts on drug related offences, or who may have committed offences to sustain a drug habit. Hence, the Drug Treatment Court is an intervention that will address the needs of clientele interfacing with the justice system because of an offence committed but for whom the underlying problem is a drug addiction. In keeping with the Judiciary's thrust to having a strategic response to the drug problem, strategies have been developed to demonstrate that the Drug Treatment Court can be used as a tool in restorative justice. |

The Customer Service project is being implemented through the Court Protocol and Information Unit and seeks to ensure that all citizens will be assured of fair and equal justice through the development and implementation of strategic internal and external customer service interventions. The project seeks to create an environment that promotes understanding of the Court system to the widest stakeholders rendering the Courts more user-friendly and accessible. |
