Circulation
Most of the
material in the Library is available for loan to practitioners for
24 hours or for use in court. Extended loans are provided to the
Judiciary. Interlibrary loans are also available.
The Librarys
databases
The Librarys
automated legal database information system was established in 1991.
There are two main databases. The library utilises the software
package CDS/ISIS developed for UNESCO by the ILO for use in libraries
in the management of information. The databases were first designed
using version 3.07 of CDS/ISIS. In 1997 the windows version of CDS/ISIS,
commonly called WINISIS, was introduced into the Law Library.
The two main
databases are:-
TTCASE
Database which is a database of headnotes and abstracts of the decisions
of the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago. The database contains
both current and retrospective material and facilitates retrieval
of case law through several access points including subject, judge,
suit number and parties to the action.
TTLEX
Database is a database of Trinidad and Tobago legal material. It
indexes such material as reports, speeches, conference papers, research
papers and journal articles. In some cases, the material is abstracted.
