The Honourable the Chief Justice Mr. Justice Ivor Archie has granted approval for Magistrates to be away from their respective courts on Friday 18th November, 2016 in order to facilitate the participation of all Magistrates in a two day training programme for the Criminal Procedure Rules which will be implemented in January 2017.
The Clerks of the Peace will have responsibility for adjourning all matters on their respective court lists and Senior Magistrates have been advised to liaise with the respective senior officers of the Court and Process Unit so that prisoners would not be brought to Court on Friday. All other services of the Courts will remain in operation.
The Judiciary apologises for any inconvenience caused, however this is necessary to effect the improvements in the administration of criminal justice in both the High Courts and the Magistrates’ Courts in Trinidad and Tobago.
